Merry Christmas!

Hope anyone that is stumbling upon this blog will realize I am enjoying off-season the last 2 weeks of December.  It has been somewhat cold out and the food has been great.  I am definitely pouring on a few pounds and enjoying "life" beyond training.

I will be traveling to Colorado for the last week and may take some pics/share some life events, but don't expect much!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone.....2011 has been good to me and I can't wait to move forward to 2012 of new adventures, opportunities and accomplishments.  I wish you all well!

Monkey See - Monkey Do

One of the primary reasons I jumped into my health goals is to ensure my children have a consistent value of staying healthy, being active, eating well and encouraging others to join in and be surrounded.  I grew up playing video games, watching TV and eating.  Not the way to go!

The morning of my triathlon debut at the Turkey Tri, both boys were there with Jessikah cheering me on.  I was so proud to be their daddy hero!  Later that day I mustered enough energy to hang the Christmas lights on the outside of our house while the women went shopping.  The boys were outside playing with their neighbor friends and Judah was into everything.

As night came upon us, I realized the boys were playing methodically and I caught them on camera doing this....

Mission accomplished!  The boys are hooked on doing events and Bradyn will be training for his first duathlon and run race in 2012!

Quick Power man Breakfast

I am not a morning person. Therefore, there are many times that I don't have time to make a decent breakfast on the go. I timed this one including prep time and it took me 4.5 minutes. I called this the Powerman. And because, I am visual, I have provided step by step pictures. Enjoy!

- 2 Eggs
- Pepper, salt, garlic pow(d)er
- Trader Joes Eggplant and Red Pepper Spread
- Sandwich thins or whole wheat tortilla
- Non-stick PAM spray
- Foil (for on the go!)

2 eggs, toast, Pepper/salt/Garlic Powder

Mix the eggs, salt/pepper/garlic together with fork
Place toast in toaster

Microwave for 1.5 minutes.  Flip egg and
cook for another 30 seconds

Add spread to toast

See why the bowl size is important?
PERFECT FIT!
Wrap in foil so you can run with it!

2012 Race season schedule - 3 years in the making

December 2007 - 245 lbs.
Well here we go.  This will be year 4 of my weight loss journey.  This started December 2007 while our family was up in Hume Lake for Christmas and I had picked up a Men's Health magazine to read while we were hanging around the snow surrounded cabin.  I was close to 250 lbs. and decided that a change was in need for better health for myself AND my family.  Today I'm hovering around 191 lbs.  I would like to continue this journey to get down to around 175-180 lbs. and plan to use these events to motivate me to get to that level.
